Our Top 10 Tips to Earn Money from your Videos on Newsflare

With over 45,000 members and counting, new features and functions being rolled out on a regular basis now is the perfect time to make the most of Newsflare’s platform. But how do you stand out and earn money from your videos? We’ve put together a list of our 10 top tips to ensure that your presence on Newsflare is known. Whether you’re totally new to the platform or want to up your video skills, all of these tips deserve your attention.

1. The optimal video length is 100 seconds

The rule of thumb is to keep your videos over 30 seconds, as videos under this length only have around a 2% chance of selling. Video length will inevitably vary however video saleability begins to plateau after 100 seconds.

2. Avoid commercial music

Our clients may not be able to buy videos that contain copyright-protected music. Avoiding commercial music also helps you to avoid any potential content claims.

Please note: if you have a TikTok video, for example, and commercial music cannot be removed, you can still upload, and our Newsflare staff will be able to assist you.

3. Try not to swear

Our clients may not be able to buy a video that contains explicit language.

4. Optimise your video's title

From appealing to buyers to providing context, there’s a ton that you can say in just a few words. More detail helps your video sell so remember to add the who, what, where, when, and why of your video in the title.

5. Simply upload more videos

Members who upload a second video onto Newsflare are 2.5 times more likely to make a sale, and members who upload a third video onto Newsflare are 3.5 times more likely to make a sale. The more videos you upload, the more likely it is that you will earn from your videos.

6. Never mute a video

Natural sound is always better than a mute video. A soundless video reduces context and the buyer's experience when watching your clip.

7. No graphic imagery

A video that doesn't comply with our terms and is considered too graphic will subsequently be deleted.

8. Consider the type of video you upload

Weather, fails, animal antics, and wild world are consistently the best selling and highest-earning video categories on the Newsflare site.

You can also get inspiration from Collection - put together by our own in-house teams, showing what’s trending at the moment. Do you have relevant videos to upload?

9. Check out what clients are looking for

You can make money by submitting your video directly to buyers on the lookout for specific footage. Your video is more likely to make a sale if you upload it to a Video Brief, and if used, your video may be seen by a large audience. Previous Video Briefs have included production companies asking for content to be included in various television programs.

10. Avoid logos, watermarks and branding

Our clients may not be able to buy videos that are branded with logos and watermarks.

Here's some examples of successful videos on Newsflare as inspiration...
