We asked Cheyenne if there was a moment that first sparked your interest to film and upload content to social channels? Or have you always just been a regular filmer of advice and hacks and life?
I have always liked just sharing bits of my life online, especially when I started traveling more and moved to Malawi, Africa as a missionary. Sharing hacks actually started on accident! One evening, I was tying 140 balloons for a caterpillar balloon arch for my son’s 1st birthday party, and after about the 100th balloon, my fingers were about to fall off. I quickly searched on YouTube for a balloon tying hack, and I learned how to tie it using a coat hanger. It was so simple I was flabbergasted and knew I needed to share it with the world. My first take, I talked through it explaining how to do it and why I was doing it and all this nonsense. Then it occurred to me that I don’t have to say a word and I can just let the video speak for itself. So I looked straight into the camera, smirked, and tied the balloon with the hanger. And that video is currently at 163 million views and counting!
How did you discover Newsflare? What made you decide to join the platform?
Newsflare reached out to me on Instagram after seeing my balloon tying hack video, and I was super excited to work together after hearing about the different companies they have worked with, like BBC and NBC!
What’s your process like, from filming to uploading? Do you have any advice for other filmers and creators?
My process is as simple and raw as possible, because that’s who I am! I always want to be real and share what’s real. I want to simply be myself and not make things complicated. I am a mom after all and don’t have time for much more than that! Most of my ideas come to me as I’m going about my day and realize, “huh, what I’m doing right now might make a good video”. I record myself doing it, then edit it the way it seems good to me. I love when I can use original sound, no talking and let the video speak for itself.
I don’t have too much advice as I have only just started in the last couple months and I’m learning as I go! But I would say, people can spot a fake from a mile away; just be who God made you to be.
