1 - Incredible video shows construction worker’s dramatic rescue from burning Houston building
This footage, filmed by Karen Jones back in 2014, shows a man trapped on a top-floor balcony of an apartment complex that has been under construction. He manages to escape the perilous flames by swinging down to the balcony on the floor below. A fire crew then comes to his rescue with a crane and successfully gets him off the building. Luckily there were no injuries after the building proceeded to collapse.

2 - Jet ski driver completes unbelievable rescue of big wave surfer in Nazaré
Filmed in 2019, this drone footage shows professional surfer Lucas Chumbo being towed into a monster wave. As the Brazilian finishes his surf and waits for his teammate Ian Cosenza to pick him up on the jet ski, another huge wave builds behind them. With the clock ticking, Cosenza speeds along and grabs Chumbo, but at this point they’re still not in the clear. Travelling at 6o mph with a huge mass of white water behind them, the two are quickly swallowed up. Miraculously, Cosenza managed to get them both to safety, with the WSL (World Surf League) describing this as “one of the craziest rescues ever seen.”

3 - UK couple rescues massive green turtle stuck on Oman beach
An overturned turtle jammed between two rocks on a beach in Oman was saved when a British couple noticed the flailing animal. Marine ecologist Charlotte Young was travelling the world conducting marine research working in the Persian Gulf Region at the time her and her boyfriend spotted the distressed turtle. The couple made a 30-minute failed attempt at freeing the animal, before resorting to using a piece of wood to lever the turtle out of the rocks.

4 - Good samaritans help old man cross the road after he falls
An old man attempting to cross the road with a zimmer frame falls backwards as he tries to step onto the curb. Lying in the middle of the road, the old man is struggling to even sit up. Eventually, two bypassers run to his aid and help him up and back onto the pavement.

5 - Chinese man rescues toddler who was dangling from a 7th floor balcony
A video filmed in the city of Foshan in Guangdong Province shows a toddler getting their head stuck between the guardrails and hanging from a 7th-floor balcony. The child was seen to be moving his body in an attempt to get back into the flat. A brave man, who was actually the child’s neighbour, climbed out of the window and moved along the ledge to approach the child. The man then worked together with the child’s mother to successfully push the toddler back into the flat.
