Filmer Spotlight: JohnAndPenny

Today we spotlight John & Penny who have been with Newsflare for many years. They kindly shared their experience with Newsflare and how they got started!

Q: How did you start as a contributor on the Newsflare platform?

A: I was lying in bed with a very bad fever, back in June 2018, and feeling very miserable. My niece Karen Greene, from Ballyconnel, Co. Cavan, Ireland, sent me an email and told me a cute story about her baby boy, who was gently rocked in his cradle by a horse on their farm. The cradle was in a wheelbarrow that was usually used to feed the horse.

She sent this story and video to Newsflare and a few days later she received a financial reward. I was so excited by this news, that I jumped out of bed and immediately signed up for Newsflare. I uploaded a few videos and to my delight a video of large circular bales of hay being wrapped by a machine in a field next to my house in Carrigallen, Co. Leitrim sold a few days later. It was bought by the Weather Channel in the USA. This was the start of a wonderful and rewarding adventure with Newsflare.

I also got my partner Penny to join, and she also made sales for some of her videos. I have always had a great interest in photographing and video recording life around me, especially in the countryside. I find studying wildlife and nature to be very relaxing, it’s like meditation therapy for me. We take photos and videos on every trip that we make and upload to Newsflare. Some of my videos even continued to receive royalties for many months after the initial sale.

Q: Would you recommend Newsflare?

A: The answer is a strong YES! There never was a better time to join this platform. Because there is now an exciting and new way to make money from our videos. AI companies are now looking for videos for AI training and will pay contributors good money for these. So now we have 2 ways to make money from our video clips at Newsflare; Upload as normal your video story to Newsflare, or if customers choose any of your video content for AI training, you get paid.
