What is a Video Brief?

Newsflare uses Video Briefs as a way to help filmers understand what videos buyers are looking for.

First things first – what’s a ‘brief’?

A brief is a set of instructions given to someone to better prepare them for a task. At Newsflare that means we use briefs to help align what buyers want with what video you could capture.

We break down what we know media organisations, social publishers, production companies and brands are looking for to make it as straightforward as possible for you to put your video in front of the right buyer.

So, what does a brief look like?

Designed to be super easy to follow, each Newsflare brief has:

A clear title
A short summary of what the video brief is about - whether it’s a topical day, a theme or special event - we’ll give you enough information to get started
Examples of exactly what you could film

To put that into context, our ‘Animals & Pets’ brief looks like this:

Title : Animals & Pets

Intro: We are looking for videos that celebrate animals. Whether your footage involves sea creatures, farm animals, or reptiles we are interested in seeing your stories!

Examples:

Precious and unique moments with animals
Animals with a unique talent
Reactions between animals
Animals interacting with humans in a unique or curious way
Moments of laughter
Pet rescues

Where can Video Briefs be found?

On the Newsflare website, scroll down to the bottom of the page. There you’ll find ‘Video Briefs’ under the ‘For Filmers’ category – that’s you!

How do I upload my video?

On each brief’s page, you can upload your video by clicking on the yellow button ‘Respond to brief’. This will take you to the upload page, where you can follow the instructions and your video will automatically be added to the video brief submissions.
